This week’s Hockensmith Co-Student-Athletes of the Week are golf's Christian Heavens and track and field's Nick Kelly. Heavens shot a three-round 210 in the Mid-South Conference tournament to win by six strokes, while Nick Kelly set a MSC record in the hammer throw on his way to winning the event this past weekend.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is softball’s Whitney Ealey. The junior had a .471 batting average with three doubles and two homeruns. She also had a 1.000 slugging percentage and stole five bases.
This
week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is tennis' Kaitlyn Thompson.
The freshman won every match she played, for a perfect 10-0 record on the

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is
softball’s Brittany Gunther. The senior went 3-0 this past week with two
shutout wins. She allowed only one run all week for a 0.28 ERA. Her lone run
came in a 13 inning game against University of Virginia College at Wise. She
also went 3-0 the previous week, earning her MSC Player of the Week honors.
This
week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is baseball’s Pete Thackston.
The senior had a .474 batting average with two doubles. He had a slugging
percentage of .579 with 10 RBI, helping the Tigers to a 4-1 week.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is softball’s Jordan Clemons. The sophomore had a .450 batting average with three doubles and a homerun this past week. She had a slugging percentage of .750 and stole two bases, helping the Tigers to a 4-2 week.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is basketball’s Vincent Crutcher. The junior hit two clutch free throws in the finals of the Mid-South Conference tournament. He scored 18 points in the semifinals and averaged 9.3 points per game as Georgetown won a seventh MSC tournament title.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is basketball’s Vic Moses. The sophomore averaged a double-double, 16.5 points and 11 rebounds, in the final week of Mid-South Conference action. The Lexington native has also been named the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week for two weeks straight.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is basketball’s Johonne Hamilton. The sophomore came off the bench to lead the Tigers with 22 points on 10-of-11 shooting against Lindsey Wilson last week. GC beat the Blue Raiders, 90-66.

This week's Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is basketball's Kourtney Tyra. The freshman was a catalyst in Georgetown's 65-59 upset win over the then No. 13 University of the Cumberlands. The Jackson County High graduate had 21 points against the Patriots. Tyra also added six assists and four rebounds in the home win. She averaged 17.5 points per game as the Tigers went 2-0 last week. She also averaged six rebounds and five assists a game.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is basketball’s Hollis Giles. The senior was consistent in the scoring column last week, averaging 20.3 points in three games, including 26 points against Campbellsville. A senior from Houston, Texas, Hollis was named the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week – the third time he has been selected since January.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is cross country’s Britney Chesser. The senior was recently awarded the Kentucky Association of USATF and the Kentucky Track and Cross-Country Coaches Association College Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year. The high honor is the culmination of a dominating season for the Louisville native, in which she won the Mid-South Conference Runner of the Year and won the conference meet by 55 seconds.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is basketball’s Mikkah Rogers. The sophomore guard had two highlight games, scoring career highs in two categories with 26 points at Pikeville and eight assists against West Virginia Tech. The Corbin, Ky. native was a big part of the Tigers’ two conference wins to move to 2-2 in MSC play.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athletes of the Week is basketball’s Hollis Giles. The senior guard led all scorer’s last week with 18 points against conference rival Campbellsville and added seven rebounds. The Tigers are currently 14-3 and ranked No. 7 in the NAIA.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athletes of the Week is basketball’s Mandi Boykin. At guard, Mandi scored 12 points in each of the Tigers’ two games last week, including the exciting game at home versus No. 2 St. Xavier. In addition, she added seven assists, five steals and three blocks. Georgetown is 9-6 and opens Mid-South Conference play this week.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athletes of the Week is basketball’s Dillon Boggs. The junior guard led all scorer’s last week with 21 points against Temple Baptist, including shooting 5 of 7 from the three-point line. In the Tigers’ three games last week, the Marietta, Ga. native tallied 35 points off the bench.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athletes of the Week are the members of the 2009 Georgetown College Volleyball Team. The Tigers finished the season on Saturday in the NAIA National Championship Finals, losing to No. 1 Fresno Pacific. The finals appearance was the first in school history. Georgetown accumulated a win-loss record of 45-4, played more matches than any other team in the NAIA, had two student-athletes named as All-Americans and have individuals that broke three school records along the way.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is basketball’s Shawn Outen. The Tiger junior was big off the bench in the Mid-South Conference Challenge over the weekend. A native of Richmond, Va., he tallied 18 points, eight rebounds and five blocks in he two wins. The Tigers are now 6-1 on the year.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is cross country’s Britney Chesser. The Tiger senior finished 73rd out of a total of 330 runners at the NAIA National Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The Louisville native ran the 5,000 meters with a time of 19:36 and has qualified for the National Championships every season of her collegiate career. What a great way to end a special collegiate career!

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is soccer’s Brooke Terrell. The freshman goalkeeper was selected after playing stellar defense in the Mid-South Conference Tournament, tallying ten saves in the semi-finals and finals versus higher seeds. Georgetown ended the tournament with two ties and finished the year with a record of 12-7-2.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is cross country’s Britney Chesser. The Tiger senior was named the MSC Female Runner of the Year after winning the Mid-South Conference Championship on Saturday in Louisville. Her time of 18:58 qualifies her for the NAIA National Championships to be held in Oregon later this month. She also earned Academic All-Conference honors and was selected as the MSC Champion of Character.

The senior All-American was selected after leading her team to a perfect 4-0 in the 5th Annual Boneyard Brawl, including wins over three ranked opponents. The Cincinnati native was named the tournament MVP and also the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week.

The No. 25 Tigers held No. 6 Cumberlands to 20 points, 17.5 below their average and won their homecoming game in dramatic style by a score of 23-20. Georgetown has moved to No. 19 in the latest NAIA Coaches’ Poll after the second top-ten win this season.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is football’s Nick Schickel. The Tiger senior was selected after tallying five solo tackles and a pass breakup during last week’s conference opener. The Louisville native also blocked a field goal attempt that then led to a Georgetown touchdown and eventual win over No. 10 Union College. Georgetown is now 3-1 and ranked No. 21.

This week’s Hockensmith Student-Athlete of the Week is volleyball’s Erica Janszen. The Tiger senior was selected after her team’s six win week, including four over ranked opponents. Janszen, an art major from Cincinnati, tallied 91 kills in the six matches on the week and was named the NAIA National Player of the Week for her efforts. She is a big part of the Tigers’ perfect 18-0 record and No. 5 ranking in the NAIA – the best ever in school history.

The Louisville native was also named the Mid-South Conference Female Runner of the Week.

far this season.

The Tiger freshman was selected after recording her first collegiate triple-double, 10 kills, 44 assists and 14 digs versus SCAD. The Cincinnati native was also selected to the all-tournament team for her play in four matches of the SCAD Invitational. Adding to her accomplishments, she was also named the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week.
