Dance team to hold tryouts (3/22/10)

Want do be a Tiger dancer? Come to tryouts for the Georgetown College team.

 

Coach Liz Wells will be holding open tryouts April 24-25 in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym. The first day will be 1-5 p.m., while the second day is 3-5 p.m.

Tryouts Set for 2009-10 Tiger Dance Team (2-17-09)

Tiger Dance Coach Tasha Hagen has set the dates for tryouts for her 2009-10 team.  The Georgetown Tiger Dancers perform at all home football and basketball games.  Their duties include performing sidelines, pom and hip-hop routines for football games, while the team performs pom, hip-hop and jazz routines for basketball games.

When: April 18 and 19th

Where: Alumni Gymnasium

Time: 2:00-5:00pm

What to wear:  Dance clothing (dance pants or shorts, tank top, or dance top, dance shoes).

Requirements for the team:

  • Commitment and Dedication
  • Enthusiasm about dancing
  • Double Turn
  • Toe Touch
  • Attend Collegiate Dance Camp (Reserve dates July 23-30)
  • Participate in all team fundraising activities
  • Perform all home football and basketball games
  • Practice 2-3 times a week 

What you should expect at tryouts:

  • Will learn a sideline routine
  • Will learn a tryout dance
  • Show a double or triple turn
  • Show a toe touch
  • Show right and left splits
  • Show leap pass (switch and straddle)
  • Show any extra talent you have (i.e. fouette turn, axel, tilt, barrel turn, etc)

Athletics Honors 87 Student-Athletes with Letter Jackets (12-8-08)

Georgetown College Director of Athletics Eric Ward awarded 87 letter jackets to the 2007 Letterman Class in the annual ceremony held Sunday, December 7 at Alumni Gymnasium.

Student-athletes were given jackets for earning their first varsity letter in athletics at the school.  The criteria for being a letterwinner is determined by each sport's coaching staff.

The dance team had one member honored, Danielle Shelley.
